Business Challenge:
Evolving Content Consumption Patterns

As users increasingly spend more time consuming video and image-heavy content across social platforms, their expectations for media browsing and playback have fundamentally changed.

This project focused on enhancing how users browse, view, and interact with media on Dcard, making image exploration more intentional and video playback smoother and more immersive, so the experience aligns with modern content consumption behaviors shaped by platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

Interaction Pattern Analysis:
Cross-Platform Media Patterns

Given that users’ expectations for media browsing are largely shaped by leading social platforms, we conducted competitor experience research to understand common interaction patterns and playback behaviors users have become accustomed to.

Product Strategy:
A Unified Media Browsing Experience

The final design introduced a more cohesive and fluid media experience across Dcard’s main feed and video surfaces. By refining playback interactions, enlarging visual entry points, and aligning gesture behaviors, media consumption became smoother and more intuitive.

Iteration Highlights:
Improving Core Media Interactions

Multiple iterations focused on playback continuity, gesture clarity, and visual hierarchy to reduce friction during media browsing.

What We Delivered

Strengthened Media Consumption Experience

We delivered a more consistent and fluid way for users to explore images and videos across the platform. Subtle interaction refinements reduced friction during playback and browsing, allowing users to stay focused on content rather than controls or transitions.
